Hi!
I’m Mike and thanks for taking the time to look at the Everest Rockstars blog. This blog is a collection of photos, videos and personal thoughts about our big adventure to the top of the world. Our adventure started out as me sending out a personal letter to a few selected like minded friends who I thought might be interested in joining me in a once in a lifetime adventure to a place I have always wanted to go to… Everest Base Camp (EBC).
To my absolute delight my friends did not disappoint me and soon after the call went out we had a team of 6 awesome, fearless rockstar types who were up for the massive challenge of trekking to Everest Base Camp and Kalla Pattar which tops out at 5545 mtrs or 18,192 feet. The trek will take us 18 days of walking through the amazing mountains of the Himalaya all the time adjusting to the very concerning altitude. Apart from the trek itself we have all embarked and committed to a solid 12 months of training for the big event and as you will see from the photos if we enjoy the main trek as much as the training we are in for a great experience.
We take off for Nepal on the 1st March 2012 and as we count down the days till we go we will keep adding photos and updates so you can follow our progress right up to when we leave then the fun will begin and our aim is to update everyone every few days from Everest itself giving you an insight on the daily ups and downs we will be sure to encounter along the way to EBC and Kallar Pattar and of course on our return we will post the many many photos and videos we will take on our adventure.
Again thanks for joining us on this blog and I hope you enjoy keeping in touch with the team we really appreciate the support and love that you want to follow our progress…. hope to see you all out on the track one day….

Rock Stars, where are you? We saw you boarding your plane at the-most-dangerous-airport-in-the-world this morning and yelled out to you, but I think the whirring of propellers drowned us out. In any case, if you’re still in Kathmandu, let us know so we can give you a good send-off! At the very least, we should all get sick over some street food together.
