A Wife’s Thoughts On The Trip – Lisa Lang

I have had people ask me if I am worried about the trip.  My answer is no – the reason is simple – the group of guys who are going.  All jokes aside, they are a very responsible lot.  Everyone has taken their training seriously and they have become a team over the last few months.  They are all family men who will have each others backs,  so no, I am not worried.

However, if I am completely honest, it will be hard for me to see Mike go off on such a life changing journey without me as we have shared so many amazing travel experiences together in our 23 years together (20 years married this Nov). We have walked on the Great Wall of China, descended down into the pyramids of Egypt, searched for the Loch Ness monster in Scotland, drank Guinness in Dublin, skied in NZ, enjoyed the majestic scenery of Canada, ate freshly made croissants on our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple in Paris and then there was Las Vegas – well everyone knows what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

In saying all this the most overwhelming feeling I have about this trip is immense pride – I am so proud of my amazing husband – he had a dream, knew what he needed to do to achieve it, worked hard, pushed himself and now his dream is becoming a reality.  It has been a long journey and at times a hard one but the reward will be fantastic.

So in the words of Confucius “ Wherever you go, go with all your heart.”  Stay safe, enjoy the adventure and remember that Mitch, Bailey and I are here in your corner – cheering you on.
